One of the best ways to jump-start the healing process of your dental implants is to use the patient’s own blood. When PRP is used a small sample of your blood is taken and placed into a centrifuge to concentrate the parts of your blood that promote bone formation and healing. This concentrate is called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).
PRP contains PDGF (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor) which is one of the main wound healing and regeneration hormones for bone. Platelet Rich Plasma will accelerate bone formation and density. PRP also contains fibrin, which will be used as a tissue sealant and stabilizer of the graft.
Dr. Lee Fitzgerald may recommend the use of Platelet Rich Plasma when necessary. The Fitzgerald Dental Implant Center is located in Plano, a short drive for residents in North Dallas, Frisco and the DFW metroplex.
